This is a personal cybersecurity education site run by Mark Blair. It is built to collect as close to nothing as possible, and this page describes the whole of it.

No cookies, no trackers

Visiting this site sets no cookies of any kind. There are no analytics scripts, no advertising, no social media pixels, and no third party embeds. Every font, script and stylesheet is served from this domain. The contact form uses a signed token instead of a session, precisely so that browsing stays cookie free.

The contact form

If you use the contact form, the name, email address and message you type are stored in this site's database so I can read and answer them, and a copy may be emailed to me. Your IP address and browser user agent are recorded with the message for abuse prevention. That information is used to respond to you and for nothing else. It is never sold, shared or used for marketing.

Server logs

Like nearly every website, the hosting server keeps standard access logs (IP address, requested page, browser user agent, timestamp) for a limited period. I use them only for security monitoring and troubleshooting.

The news section

Headlines shown on the home page are fetched by this server from public RSS feeds. Reading them involves no request from your browser to any third party.

Links to other sites

News items, training resources and social links lead to sites I do not control (publishers, Substack, social platforms). Their privacy practices are their own.

Your data, your call

If you have submitted a message and want a copy of it or want it deleted, email privacy@ctrlaltsecurity.com from the address you used and I will take care of it. There are no accounts and no other personal data to request.

Changes

If the site ever starts collecting more than described here, this page will say so before it happens, with the date above updated.
